Kareen is proud to lead a diverse group of finance professionals at Zelos Capital. She oversees the firm’s strategic direction and is active in portfolio management decisions as well as serving Zelos clients. In addition, Kareen frequently serves on boards such as her recent appointment to the $13 billion Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology (CAAT) Pension Plan, as a member of the Board of Trustees and Investment Committee. She previously served the $18 billion Alberta Teachers Retirement Fund (ATRF) as Chair of the Audit & Finance Committee, member of the Investment Committee, and member of the Human Resources & Compensation Committee, among other Board roles. Kareen currently serves on the Canadian Advocacy Council of the CFA Society of Canada.
When people meet with Kareen they frequently remark that her passion for investing is palpable. She is a self-described, life-learner, and can frequently be found completely immersed in a new topic of interest. Outside the office, Kareen loves outdoor adventure and exploring new cultures around the world. She is a long-term Calgary Search and Rescue Association volunteer and teaches topics related to Search and Rescue. Kareen also coaches children’s sports and cherishes spending time with her young family.
Kareen is a Chartered Professional Accountant, a CFA® charterholder, a Certified Financial Planner, and holds an ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors. She also has a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary.

Gilbert leads the Corporate Advisory practice of Zelos while staying active with his Private Wealth clients. He has a unique ability to see new possibilities for entrepreneurs and is dedicated to helping them meet their objectives. When people meet Gilbert, they often walk away feeling calmer and more focused.
When not in the office, Gilbert can be found spending time with his young family, at the gym, and volunteering in his community. He has a number of incredible accomplishments beneath his understated demeanor; he’s earned a blackbelt in Hapkido and he has fundraised and built a school in Guatemala with his wife, Doreen.
Prior to co-founding Zelos, Gilbert worked for several top-tier financial institutions in both investment banking and equity research roles. Gilbert holds a Chartered Investment Manager (CIM®) designation. He also earned a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Risk & Insurance from the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary. Gilbert is currently pursuing his CFA designation and is a CFA Level III candidate.

Karen is known for her thorough and articulate work style and her specialized knowledge of financial services firms. She oversees finance, financial reporting, and compliance for Zelos and its related entities, as well as advisory clients.
Karen enjoys a variety of sports and is the office athletics champion. We think her superpowers came from surviving a category five hurricane while living in the Cayman Islands prior to her move to Calgary in 2006. She has also worked in British Columbia and Saskatchewan. Karen also enjoys music, baking, and spending time with her family.
Karen is a Chartered Professional Accountant, CA, and completed her bachelor’s degree (with honours) in Accounting from the University of Saskatchewan. She has successfully passed the Chief Compliance Officer’s exam and is working toward registered status.

Allana makes a vibrant first impression as our Private Wealth Analyst. She is known for her upbeat enthusiasm and she works to ensure Zelos clients have amazing communication experiences with the firm. Allana has a rare combination of creative and analytical talent with a results-orientated disposition.
Allana’s interests are broad and varied but her natural leadership attributes are demonstrated across several areas. Allana is a certified gymnastics coach and a certified childcare worker in addition to previously being the captain of a couple of her sports teams. She participated in several finance-related university challenges while doing her finance degree and she has strong interests in wealth management, investment banking, and equity research.
Allana has recently completed her bachelor’s degree in Finance at Mount Royal University, where she received her BBA. Allana is currently pursuing her CFA designation and is a CFA level I candidate.

When you meet Sundus, you won’t forget her warmth. She manages a busy office of professionals with a perpetual smile while she supports the team on an incredible breadth of roles. Sundus still finds time for night school and enjoys exploring Alberta with her young family.
Prior to moving to Canada in 2018, Sundus lived in both Saudi Arabia and Jordan. She speaks and writes fluent Arabic and English. Sundus is also a badminton champion!
Sundus completed her bachelor’s degree in Environmental Geology from the Faculty of Science in Amman’s oldest and largest university, the University of Jordan. She also completed the Office Management Program at the University of Jordan and the Office Administration Program offered by the Calgary Immigrant Women’s Association. Sundus is currently working towards her CPA designation.

Rebekah provides analytical, reporting, and project support for the investment and back office teams at Zelos. Drawing on her background in the banking industry, she is able to add value and improve efficiencies in processes throughout the firm. Rebekah is known for her depth of financial knowledge and advanced financial modelling skills.
Rebekah enjoys reading educational books fueling her passion for learning. When she is not reading or studying for a new designation, she can be found playing drums and exploring Canada with her young family.
Prior to moving to Canada in 2019, Rebekah lived in Nigeria. Rebekah completed a bachelor’s degree in Science (Physiology) from the University of Ilorin in Nigeria and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Nicosia, Cyprus. She also has an ACCA designation from the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants in the United Kingdom and is a member of CPA Alberta. Rebekah has completed a number of additional qualifications specializing in Excel and BI Tools and completed the Bridging the Gap for Foreign Trained Accountants Program offered by the Calgary Immigrant Women’s Association.
